Personal Hobbies and Interests

Outside of work, Dr. Shelly enjoys spending time with his family and taking advantage of the outdoors whenever he can. Their home is filled with a variety of animals, including Penelope, their Golden Retriever; Fork, their cat; Tiny Tina, their rabbit; a gecko; a snake; and fish.

Favorite Part of My Job

His professional interests include preventive medicine, and he enjoys the variety of cases he sees each day. Most of all, he finds it rewarding to help patients and partner with families to keep their pets healthy.

One of Dr. Shelly’s favorite things about working at Colmar Veterinary Hospital is collaborating with a dedicated team to provide compassionate, high-quality care for every patient.

Education

Dr. Spencer Shelly is a Bucks County native who earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology with Honors from Ursinus College. After several years in biomedical research, he went on to earn both his Veterinary Medical Doctorate (VMD) and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania.

Work History

Although Dr. Shelly’s doctoral research focused on infectious disease, his true passion has always been caring for small animal patients. Before returning to Bucks County, he practiced veterinary medicine in Delaware.
