Valerie has been immersed in veterinary medicine for as long as she can remember. As the daughter of a veterinary technician, she grew up in veterinary hospitals and couldn’t imagine pursuing any other career.

Personal Hobbies and Interests

Outside of work, Valerie enjoys tending her garden and spending time with her family. She shares her home with her husband, Sean; her three sons, cats, leopard geckos, chickens, small birds, and fish.

Favorite Part of My Job

One of Valerie’s favorite things about working at Colmar Veterinary Hospital is the team’s commitment to continuous learning and growth. She appreciates that the hospital embraces new ideas and advances in veterinary medicine while remaining mindful of each client’s budget and individual needs. She also values being part of a team that is intelligent, compassionate, and never afraid to have a little fun. Her veterinary superpowers include anesthesia, feline handling, and providing comfort and support during life’s most difficult moments.

Education

She graduated from Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, in 2015 with a degree in Veterinary Technology. During her education, she completed internships at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine’s New Bolton Center and Ryan Veterinary Hospital, participated in a work-study program in a small animal laboratory, and volunteered with a veterinary oncology radiation center.

Professional Background

Throughout her career, Valerie has gained experience in both general practice and advanced patient care. She has a special interest in anesthesia and client education, enjoying the opportunity to help pets receive safe, compassionate care while ensuring owners feel informed and supported throughout the process.

Valerie has also dedicated many years to cat rescue and fostering. Her passion for feline medicine and behavior has earned her a reputation as a “cat whisperer” among coworkers and clients alike.
